The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, supported by the Friends, invites you to a very special presentation by a well-known international guest. Andy McConnell is one of Britain’s leading authorities on glassware of all types, and his books have covered the subject from 1650 to the present. He was the first glass specialist recruited to BBC TV’s Antiques Roadshow, for which he has now recorded ten series.

Beyond the Roadshow is a light, irreverent talk in which Andy looks back at his life and offers a peek behind the Antiques Roadshow curtain. A trained journalist, Andy was a Hollywood-based rock correspondent in the 1970s, before joining Island Records as its video producer. In the 1980s, he and his family moved to rural France for a taste of ‘the good life’.

A witty, spontaneous speaker who is delighted to share his knowledge and enthusiasm, Andy explains how the Antiques Roadshow works and examines its enduring appeal.

If you would like to learn more about Andy and his expertise in glassware, check out his website.
