Getting down and dirty – plant hunting in remote corners of Tasmania
Staff at the Tasmanian Herbarium have been carrying out targeted surveys in areas of Tasmania with poorly known flora. Whether as part of the Commonwealth-run Bush Blitz program, or in the form of in-house-planned surveys, Herbarium staff have been heading out to spend time in the bush and gain a better knowledge of our flora, in the process expanding TMAG’s plant collections.
Miguel de Salas and Lyn Cave will give a short, 10–15 minute presentation on Bush Blitz, followed by a hands-on demonstration of the work they would typically carry out during and after such a survey. The format will be free-flowing and Lyn and Miguel are happy to talk about any aspect of their work.
