As well as being a well-respected art critic for the Mercury and TasWeekend, Andrew Harper is a dynamic performance artist, curator and collector who is curious about art careers that don’t follow standard paths; artists that work at the edges of mainstream contemporary culture; grotesque and underground art; and galleries that support experimental and emerging practices. He has spent years collating an archive of unruly artworks that reveal hidden depths and complexity of Tasmanian culture.
In this conversation Andrew and Mary Knights, TMAG Senior Curator of Art, will discuss the things they love about contemporary art, curating, collecting and writing, and demonstrate with some wonderful images up on the big screen.
