Art tour of the exhibition Puncturing the mask of civility — Runnymede House
This is an exhibition featuring the works of ten Tasmanian women artists and three musicians. Curated by Dr Llewellyn Negrin, the exhibition encompasses sculpture, installation, drawing, music and textile works, all of which are embedded in various locations in and around the historic homestead of Runnymede.
The exhibition opens a contemporary dialogue with the property’s collection through the lens of the women who have lived there. Just as the flaws in the decorative friezes, wallpapers and floor coverings in Runnymede reveal the fragility of the veneer of civilisation which it seeks to present, so the works in this exhibition prise open the fissures to disclose what lies beneath.
The Friends of TMAG are offering the opportunity to tour the house and the artworks with some of the artists, in two groups of 10 people per group. Because of the limited numbers, this event is open to members only and bookings are essential.
The cost covers the entry to Runnymede, and there is a concession rate. If you are a member of the National Trust, you have free entry, but please book your place.
Meet at the front gate/entrance on Bay Road at 11.40 ready to start the tour promptly at 12 noon.
NOTE regarding online bookings: Attendees sometimes report difficulties booking as a member or member couple. You need to log in before making the booking and then those options will be available to you. And as an added bonus, you then won't need to answer pesky questions about whether you are a robot.
