4 Women—4 Pathways
The Tyler Collection at UTAS School of Creative Arts
Come and see the exhibition 4 Women—4 Pathways and find out about the UTAS Tyler Collection from the Curator, Rachael Rose.
The Tyler Collection includes an internationally significant body of artworks spanning Romania’s rich artistic traditions from the Byzantine through to the modernism of the Communist era.
Of the twenty-six Romanian artists represented, only four are women: Geta Brătescu (1926–2018), Sultana Maitec (1928–2016), Georgeta Năpăruș (1930–1997), and Silvia Radu (b. 1935).
This exhibition completes the research project The woman artist in the communist regime in Romania, represented in the Tyler Collection for the inaugural Tyler Visiting Fellowship (2024).
4 Women—4 Pathways celebrates their unique creativity, from the oppression of Ceacescu’s authoritarian regime to the freedom of the post-1989 Revolution era.
