Experience the TMAG in a new way by capturing your thoughts and observations using sketch noting. This fun method can be done by anyone and takes the pressure off ‘being able to draw’ or ‘being able to write’. Suzy Cooper will teach you simple methods you can copy exactly or adapt to suit yourself. Even the simplest words, sketches or found objects can look terrific if you apply some design ideas to them.
Absolute beginners are absolutely catered for. If you’ve always wanted to draw or to add words to your drawings, come and join us. This would be a great preparation if you are planning a trip and wanting to keep a travel journal.

The idea of sketch noting
Here’s how Suzy Cooper describes her sketch noting:
‘I’m a writer who wanted to draw more. I’d studied some graphic design but wasn’t comfortable drawing. On my last holiday I set myself the challenge to write and draw every day — and to share my work with friends back home. I chose some very simple tools and gave myself a small number of rules (design elements) to apply to every page I worked on. My journal quickly became a fun part of every day and my confidence and drawing skills improved because I was having fun.’
Suzy is a long-time member of the Friends, and served on our committee a couple of years ago.
