A botanical walk at the Waterworks

Miguel de Salas and Matt Baker from the Tasmanian Herbarium will take the Friends on a botanical walk at the Waterworks.

What do botanists do when they go out on expeditions and surveys? Miguel and Matt will bring some of the gear they use when doing field work, and will introduce the local flora of the Waterworks.

We will walk a short distance along the Pipeline Track and around the Waterworks, and Miguel and Matt will demonstrate how they would go about surveying a patch of bush and preparing specimens to become a part of the Herbarium’s collection.

The walk and talk aspect will run for about an hour. You are then welcome to stay for morning tea. As we aren’t able to provide hot drinks, bring your own liquid refreshments and we will put on the food.

Shelter 9 is about 900 metres from the reserve entrance. There is ample parking, undercover seating and toilets close to the shelter. The section of track nearby is easy walking.

Because numbers are limited to 25, this event is for Friends members only. We recommend you book early to avoid disappointment.

Cost: $10 per person.

BYO thermos and cup, and we will provide a generous morning tea.
