Art Conservation (November)

You are invited on a tour of TMAG’s painting conservation lab with Jenny O’Connell, Senior Conservator (Painting). Jenny will share current research into two paintings in the TMAG collection attributed to colonial artist Henry Mundy. The conservation department has collaborated with specialists in Melbourne to undertake technical analysis of the paintings. Find out how investigating the materials, such as pigments, and techniques, such as underdrawing, can assist with authenticating an artwork. Following the presentation, take a behind the scenes tour of the painting conservation lab.

Jenny acquired her conservation degree at the University of Melbourne, and then worked and travelled extensively prior to moving to Hobart. Her career has spanned from working in private practice in Sydney to community engagement projects in Albania. Jenny’s current role involves collection care and treatment of paintings, as well as research and policy development.

As numbers are strictly limited, this event is open to Friends members only.

Members $15, including morning tea.
