Sea monsters!
An introduction to Tasmania's top ocean predators
Join Dr David Hocking, Senior Curator of Vertebrate Zoology and Palaeontology at TMAG, to learn about the evolution and ecology of Tasmania’s unique marine predators, including our seals, sharks, and whales. We will explore the history of human interaction with these amazing animals and use the museum’s collections to uncover specimens that reveal their biology and natural history. Using new technology, scientists are increasingly able to delve deeper into the secrets of their underwater lives, and by examining fossils, we can look ‘back in time’ at the lifestyle and behaviour of ancient species that once called Tasmanian waters home.
Newly appointed TMAG director Mary Mulcahy will also join us, so come along to meet her!
Members $20, non-members $30, including refreshments.
