Lighting re/JOY
Mark Colegrave, TMAG Exhibitions and Lighting Officer
As a Churchill Fellowship recipient, Mark Colegrave visited museums and art galleries in New York, London, Paris and Dusseldorf in order to hone his skills and bring modern lighting techniques to TMAG. It’s not just aesthetics that he works on — he also needs to consider the conservation sensitivites of the material on display and the need to employ energy-efficient technology.
The exhibition that we will visit with Mark is re/JOY, ceramics by Thai-born Australian artist Vipoo Srivilasa. It honours the stories of people from around the world who, like him, now call Australia home. You can read their stories in the exhibition and see what Vipoo has done to bring them to exuberant life.
This is a great opportunity to hear about what goes on behind the scenes when exhibitions are mounted, and the skills and experience that exhibition officers bring to the task.
This talk will be held in the exhibition gallery. There will be some seating available but most of the time we will be moving around the exhibition as Mark demonstrates his craft.
This is a FREE event but as space is limited it is open to members only.
